Y’nagar police post attacked, 2 cops injured

A group of miscreants armed with wooden sticks and bricks attacked a police post in Yamunanagar Sunday night, leaving two policemen and several others injured. The assailants also set a motorcycle on fire and damaged three others before getting freed an accused of rash driving detained in the police post.

On a complaint by ASI Amrik Singh, who was posted at Hamida police post, Yamunanagar, a case has been registered against Vikas, alias Babba, a resident of Hamida Colony, Amit, alias Mitwa, Kadwa, Happy, Raja and 10 to 15 other persons under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and other sections of the IPC on Monday.

The complainant ASI said that he along with a colleague had arrested Shakti, a resident of Old Hamida, for rash driving Sunday night and taken him to the Hamida police post. About 10 to 15 persons armed with wooden sticks and bricks arrived at the police post around 11.30 pm in support of Shakti. They started abusing them and attacked them and other persons present there.

ASI Amrik Singh, head constable Manoj Kumar and some other persons present in the police post were injured. After hearing their cries, people living nearby the police post reached there and rescued the policemen and other persons. The attackers got Shakti freed from the police post.

They set a motorcycle set on fire and damaged three other motorcycles parked in the police post.

Om Prakash, SHO, City police station, said a case had been registered against the accused.
