2 houses destroyed in Chamba fire

Two houses were gutted in Chamba district on Wednesday night. Chamba Superintendent of Police

Dr Monika Bhutungru said the loss was Rs 22 lakh. However, no loss of life was reported.

The SP said a house was gutted at Sahnu Mohla village in Bharmour. Its owner Pawan Kumar said the loss was Rs 15 lakh.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the flames were doused.

In another incident at Chachoga village near Bagheigarh in Churah, a house, owned by Naro Devi, was destroyed in a fire. The loss was assessed to be Rs 7 lakh.

Firefighters doused the fire on time otherwise it would have spread to nearby houses. The cause of the fire was yet to ascertained, the SP said. — OC
