As part of an educational tour, a 15-member delegation from the National Institute of Zorig Chusum, Bhutan, visited the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) here on Saturday. The team will be visiting various craft clusters and institutes to understand techniques being used in India.

Dinesh Rangra, Joint Director, NIFT, said the delegation, lead by Principal Tshewang Peldon, showed keen interest in works exhibited by NIFT students. The visit was organised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, the Union Ministry of Textiles.

Rangra said the Bhutan institute had sought collaboration in the areas of faculty exchange programme, student exchange programme and technology transfer on mutually agreed terms. Work on Chamba rumal by NIFT students was much appreciated.

Rangra said the delegation would also visit Chamba and work with local artisans there.

He said, “The delegation took along one of visualisation and representation (V&R) art works of our foundation programme student Prathishtha so as to use it as a reference at their institute.”
