BTech student killed in Solan road mishap

Solan, September 14

A student was killed in a road accident in the Deoghat area of Solan on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Karan Singh, a BTech student at Shoolini University.

Additional SP Shiv Kumar Sharma said the accident took place around 6.45 am, when a truck driver, Suresh Kumar, tried to overtake a pick-up utility vehicle but failed to do so and clashed with the bike coming from the opposite side. The student fell in a drain and suffered serious head injury.

The deceased was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Sharma added.

The police reached the spot after being informed by the shopkeepers. Karan was immediately rushed to a local hospital but was declared brought dead. The truck was going to Parwanoo and was loaded with ration.

Karan was the only son of his parents who reside in Meerut. At present, Karan was staying with his grandparents at Deoghat.

A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A of the IPC has been registered. — TNS
