CCTV footage helps cops challan violators

Our Correspondent

Una, May 15

In view of the increasing instances of head injuries due to road accidents, the Una police on Tuesday began challaning two-wheeler drivers not wearing helmets on the basis of CCTV footage installed at road junctions in the town.

According to a press note issued by SP Devakar Sharma, registration numbers of vehicles were noted down from the video footage and the numbers of 257 two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets had been noted down.

Releasing the list of vehicle numbers, the SP has appealed to the vehicle owners to deposit the fines with the designated officer in his office within five working days, after which the list will be sent for realisation of fines to the district courts.
