Colourful events mark celebrations

Chamba, April 15

The district-level Himachal Day function was celebrated in Chamba with enthusiasm on Sunday. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kishan Kapoor, who was the chief guest on the occasion, hoisted the Tricolour and took salute of the impressive march-past of the police, Home Guards and the NCC.

Addressing the gathering, Kapoor said the state government was providing cheap ration to more than 70 lakh consumers. For the facility of consumers, a toll free number 1967 has been put into operation and for monitoring welfare schemes, the Chief Minister had launched the CM Dashboard, Kapoor said. He hoped that it would improve the public distribution system. Earlier, a colourful cultural programme presented by the cultural troops and schoolchildren marked the celebration of the day.

MLAs Vikram Jaryal, Pawan Nayyar and Jia Lal besides Deputy Commissioner Harikesh Meena, Superintendent of Police Dr Monika Bhutungru, and prominent citizens of the area also attended the function.
