KANGRA, APRIL 20

Residents of Chatri village along with the family members of the Pathankot martyr Sanjeevan Rana today held a demonstration from Rana’s residence at Chatri to the Sihun panchayat crematorium to protest the failure of the state government to fulfil the promises made to the family.

Karnik Padha, youth BJP leader, who led the protest, visited the residence of Rana where he joined the residents of the village and panchayat members. They raised slogans against the state government.

The protesters carrying slogans in support of their demands marched one-and-a-half km from the residence of Rana to the crematorium.

Among others who were part of the protest were Shubam and Shivani Rana’s son and daughter, besides his wife Pinky Devi.

Karnik Padha said the state government had promised that the name of Government Degree College at Shahpur would be named after the martyr. It also promised that the road up to the crematorium would be constructed and the crematorium be developed. He said the government had also promised job to one of the family members of Rana’s family.

The protestors alleged that the state government did not fulfil even a single promise.
