Shimla, April 16

Expressing concern on the issue of encroachments on Sanjauli Tunnel to Mashobra-Kufri Junction and Sanjauli/Dhalli bypass, the HP High Court on Monday directed the state to file action taken report/status report on this issue.

In compliance to its earlier direction, it was informed to the court that the Chief Secretary had convened a meeting with Principal Secretary (Town and Country Planning), Director, Town and Country Planning, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioner, Principal Secretary (PWD) and Engineer-in-Chief (PWD) on this issue. It was further informed to the court that necessary documents from different departments were yet to be collected for taking appropriate action in this regard.

After hearing the matter for some time a division bench comprising the acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel listed the matter for further hearing on May, 4. The court passed this order on a Public Interest Litigation alleging encroachments on these two roads.
