Man gets 3-yr RI under NDPS Act

Chamba, March 20

Special Judge-II, Chamba, Paras Dogar today sentenced Lal Chand, a resident of Lilera in Chamba district, to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of three years. He was also fined Rs 20,000.

In case of default of payment of fine, the convict would further undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months. In an official press note here today, Public Prosecutor Kanwar Uday Singh said on June 13, 2015, a police party on patrol at Pangola zero point falling under Tissa police station nabbed the accused while he was carrying 500 grams of charas.

Thereafter, a case was registered against Lal Chand under Section 20 of the NDPS Act. He was convicted and sentenced by the court. —OC
