Don’t threaten leaders: Congress to CM

Shimla, November 6

The Congress today advised Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to desist from threatening his political opponents with inquiry into the BJP charge-sheet issued against the previous Virbhadra regime. In separate statements here, HPCC president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri said the Congress could not be cowed down by the threats.

“If the CM thinks we can be intimidated with such threats, he is mistaken. We are not scared of inquiry by any agency into the BJP charge-sheet,” they said.

Sukhu said the CM could order an inquiry by any agency, be it Central or state, as the BJP was in power. “The Congress is not neither scared of any probe as the BJP charge-sheet is merely a bundle of lies with no substance or evidence,” said Sukhu.

He said the Congress would soon constitute a charge-sheet committee so that the acts of omission and commission against the BJP regime could be probed. “I will tour the state, starting from Nirmand in Kullu, to apprise the people about the failure of both governments in the state and at the Centre,” he said.

The Congress chief said his party would observe November 8, the first anniversary of the demonetisation, as black day. “This will go down as a black day in the history as BJP leaders converted their black money into white,” Sukhu said. — TNS
