Family denied rural benefits in Kullu village

KULLU, April 16

A family in Punthal panchayat of Manikaran has accused the panchayat secretary of being biased for not registering its members on the Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) list. Tikam Ram, a resident of Dharla village, has approached the Kullu DC.

Tikam said he, along with his ailing mother, lived in an old house. Even today, his broken house had neither electricity nor toilet. He had applied to include his family in the IRDP list.

The panchayat secretary inspected his house, but their names were not included in the list. The secretary reportedly stated that Tikam possess four bigha.

Tikam urged the DC that keeping his financial condition in view, his family should be included in the list .— OC
