Four-laning: Residents seek market rate for their land

Nurpur, February 13

At least 40 residents of Jachh village on Pathankot-Mandi NH-154 have expressed resentment over an inadequate relief being offered to acquire their property for the four-laning project.

Led by Maj (retd) Onkar Singh Guleria, the residents today met SDM Abid Hussain and submitted a memorandum demanding market rate for their land. The memorandum was signed by all affected residents, whose land, houses and business establishments are being acquired by the NHAI for the project. The residents said the scheduled rate was Rs 1.5 lakh per kanal, whereas the present market value of their property was nearly 1.5 crore per kanal. They demanded that relief be paid for the complete structure even if a portion of the building is being acquired. The SDM said he had forwarded the memorandum to the authorities concerned for further action. — OC
