Garbage dots grain market

Our Correspondent

Palampur, November 6

Chaotic conditions prevail at the local sabzi mandi on the narrow Pathankot-Mandi national highway near the town.

The mandi was set up about seven years ago to provide better services to vegetable sellers and consumers. But the apathy of the state government has added to the woes of vendors and those visiting the place.

The mandi compound dotted garbage, rotten fruits and vegetables thrown by vendors. Garbage has not been lifted for days together and residents have to put up with the foul .

The presence of stray animals is another problem. There are reports of injuries to shopkeepers and visitors due to animals.
