Cong rebel hopeful of return to party

Kullu, March 20

Congress rebel and president of the Manali Vikas Manch Dharamveer Dhami today said he would contest the Assembly elections irrespective of his return to the party. Addressing mediapersons here he said the manch would decide its future strategy depending upon the decision of the HPCC.

He said a delegation of Manali Vikas Manch had met CM Virbhadra Singh and HPCC president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Dhami was hopeful of his return into Congress hold and securing a ticket from Manali seat.

Dhami had earlier contested from Kullu and Manali seats as an Independent candidate after he failed to get a ticket from the party. He contested on BSP candidate ticket from Manali in 2007. He was expelled from the party in 2012 for contesting against party candidate Bhuvneshwar Gaur from Manali seat both of whom lost to Govind Singh Thakur of the BJP.

Dharamveer said his name might be revoked by the party leadership after Congress leaders expelled for anti-party activities were taken back into party fold. — OC
