Taps run dry in Solan villages

Solan, November 6

The shortage of the field staff in the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Department is adversely affecting the supply of water in rural and urban habitations of Solan district.

Though the department has outsourced workers for running the pumps, many water schemes are still feeling the pain of staff crunch. Workers who are supposed to ensure the upkeep of the water supply schemes have not been recruited for several years.

Superintending Engineer, IPH, Sanjeev Kaul, said they had outsourced staff for water supply schemes where the shortage existed. — TNS
