Miscreants decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh and Rs 5,000 cash from a house at Chogan locality on Tuesday evening.

The owner of the house, a widow, was not at home when the incident took place. When she returned home in the evening, she noticed that the main door was locked from inside. She reported the matter to the police.

The police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of the IPC. SP, Kangra, Santosh Patial said they had detained a person in connection with thefts being committed in the Nurpur area.
