Shimla, February 12

The government today created a new sub-division at Thunag and sub-tehsil at Chhatri in Seraj represented by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

The move came as a “placate-all” exercise by Thakur in his constituency, which has Thunag, Janjheli, Bali Chowki, Chhatri, Gara Gushain and Thatchi segments. An SDM has also been posted at Thunag.

In a bid to placate the residents of Janjehli, the Thunag sub-divisional magistrate will sit for four days in a month at Janjehli.

Similarly, a sub-division officer (civil), Chachiot at Goharm, will sit for four days in a month at Bali Chowki.

The Gada-Gusain patwar circle of Bali Chowki tehsil has been included in thenew sub-division, which was earlier in Chachyot sub-division in Gohar.

As many as 14 patwar circles, Kanda-Bagsaid, Shikawari, Thunag, Ropa, Lambathach, Chiuni, Shillibagi, Kaliper, Shivakhad, Shawa, Jarol, Janjehalli, Shilhigad and Tunndadhar will be attached to Thunag tehsil.

The government created a new sub-tehsil at Chhatri. This sub-tehsil comprises the patwar circles of Utri-Magru, Dakshini-Magru, Mangarh, Bagdathach and Baryogi.

When in the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur had opposed the Sub-division status to Janjehli, terming it a political agenda of Virbhadra Singh and his close associate Chet Ram, then Milk Federation chairman, who lost the Assembly election to the Chief Minister.
