Una, April 15

Health minister Vipin Parmar presided over a district-level Himachal Day function held at the government school ground in Una city on Sunday. He hoisted the Tricolour and took salute at a march past. At the start of the function, a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of schoolchildren from Nurpur, who died recently in a school bus accident.

Addressing the gathering, Parmar said the state, which came into existence on this day in 1948 by merging 30 small princely states, had made major strides in the fields of development as well as social welfare.

He said work on a satellite hospital of PG Chandigarh would be launched in Una after the completion of a few pending formalities, adding that a mother and child healthcare centre for which Rs 20 crore had been received from the Union government would be set up at the Una district hospital.

He said a detailed project report amounting to Rs 32 crore had been prepared, adding that the additional amount of Rs 12 crore would also be requisitioned from the Union government for the mother and child healthcare centre. On the occasion, schools contributing to the Swachh Bharat Mission were honoured. Schoolchildren presented cultural items. BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti, MLAs Balbir Chaudhary and Rajesh Thakur, DC Vikas Labroo and SP Devakar Sharma were also present.
