‘Ambedkar was for an egalitarian society’

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police (CP) Praveen Kumar Sinha on Saturday paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.

At a function organised here at the District Administrative Complex the DC and CP called upon the people to follow the path shown by Dr BR Ambedkar to carve out an egalitarian society. Describing Dr Ambedkar as a great scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and a statesman, they said he was one of the most towering personalities in the entire world history.

They said though Dr Ambedkar hailed from a humble family but his outstanding contribution had brought him in the league of global leaders.

Both the officers said the Indian Constitution was the result of Dr Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness adding that he was not only leader of weaker sections but of entire humanity.

The DC said besides framing the constitution, Dr Ambedkar also laid the foundation of Reserve Bank of India. Above all, he was a true votary of empowerment of women.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Paramvir Singh, Assistant Commissioner Dr Deepak Bhatia, District Revenue Officer Paramjit Singh Sahota, Revenue Officers Harminder Singh and Manohar Lal, among others, were also present on the occasion.
