Former principal of Sant Baba Hari Singh Ji Model School, Mahilpur, Jean C Kurian, who was booked for allegedly molesting a Class VII girl, surrendered before the court of JMIC Garhshankar Ravaneet Kaur today.

The court handed him over to the Mahilpur police for one-day remand. A student of Sant Baba Hari Singh Ji Modal School, on April 27, had told her parents that after the school, school principal Jean C Kurian sent for her to his office on the pretext of placing a file there and allegedly molested her.

The family of the child had complained to the police and had also accused the school management and administration of saving the principal.

A protest was also held at the school gate and later, traffic was blocked on the Mahilpur-Hoshiarpur main road for about two hours.

At that time, the police had sought four days to arrest the accused principal, but even after a month and a half, the police had failed to trace him.

Today, the accused principal himself surrendered in the court.
