After having secured All-India Rank (AIR) 267 and being the second topper in the district in the JEE-Mains exam, Bhavnoor Singh Marok has now emerged as the topper in the district in the JEE Advanced exam, the results of which were declared here today.

A student of Eklavya School, Bhavnoor has secured AIR 139 in JEE Advanced and aspires to pursue computer science from IIT, Bombay.

Talking to The Tribune, he said he had been preparing for the JEE entrance for the past two years and finally his efforts had paid off.

He said he studied for more than 10 hours a day, but he had always made it a point taking breaks and giving his body and mind a bit of relaxation as it was necessary for getting good results.

The second spot in the district has been bagged by Gurbaz Singh, a student of MGN Public school, Adarsh Nagar, who earlier bagged AIR 159 in the JEE-Mains. In the JEE Advanced exam, he secured AIR 208.

Gurbaz said he would now take admission in a computer science in IIT Kanpur and further aimed to crack the civil services examination. He credited his success to his mentors and parents.

Besides, Gurbaz has also been the state topper of Punjab State Talent Search Examination and secured 95 per cent marks in Class XII.

He added that if anyone had to clear the exam, then he should first make a schedule for self-study and eventually hard work would pay off.

The third position in the district has been bagged by Nakul Aggarwal, a student of DPS. He has secured AIR 249. Talking to The Tribune, Nakul said he had now planned to do B Tech from IIT, Bombay.

He said he loved to read books on science fiction and he would do B Tech in computer science.

For cracking the exam, he advised all aspiring students to always revise notes after the class and never overlook NCERT textbooks while preparations as these always hold equal importance.

Reportedly seven students of Akash institute, including Bhavnoor and Gurbaaz, successfully recorded their positions in the all-India rankings.

Others who bagged the positions in the district include Rajas Bhatt (AIR 374), Sharabh Aggarwal (AIR-509), Gunangad Pal Singh (AIR-574), Sagalpreet Singh (AIR-1108) and Smarth Bhatia (AIR-1243).
