Jalandhar, January 11

Cracking down on the illegal colonies and encroachments in the district, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) today demolished four illegal colonies besides removing encroachments from the commercial sites on PUDA Laadowaali road locality of the city.

On the directions of Chief Administrator of JDA Girish Dyalan, a special team of the civic body led by Additional Chief Administrator Dr Jai Inder Singh razed the illegal colonies in village Bulandpur and Nangal Salempur today.

The team demolished three illegal colonies in Bulandpur village while one was razed in village Salempur Nangal. In the same manner, in a joint action, the JDA and Municipal Corporation Jalandhar later removed illegal encroachments in the parking, corridor, footpath and other commercial sites of PUDA on the Ladowali road.

The Additional Chief Administrator said the mushrooming of illegal colonies would not be allowed in the district. He also added that JDA was keeping strict vigil on such colonies.

Jai Inder Singh said as per the directions of the state government the JDA would take strict action against any such colony coming in its jurisdiction.

The JDA has already set up a special regulatory authority headed by him to take stringent action against violators of law on one hand and strengthening its regulatory wing on the other, Singh said

He also said a centralised complaint cell has been set up to register and maintain all complaints received telephonically or in writing.

To ensure that this regulatory body works efficiently, various officers of the civic body have been assigned specific subdivision.
