National Lok Adalats settle 780 cases

As many as 780 cases were disposed of by the National Lok Adalats held at Kapurthala, Phagwara and Sultanpur Lodhi yesterday. Over 2,452 cases were taken up by 14 benches, including subdivisions, constituted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Compensations worth Rs 4,44,97,940 were settled at the Lok Adalats. The cases related to criminal compoundable offences, bank recovery, motor accidental claims, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding theft cases), service matters related to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, revenue cases, and civil cases, among others, were taken up. The next National Lok Adalat will be held on April 14.
