Power supply to six Sewa Kendras snapped

Phagwara, February 11

Though the state government has decided to close Sewa Kendras, but no formal orders have been issued in this regard so far. Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has disconnected power connections of six Sewa Kendras, out of 14 Sewa Kendras, in Phagwara recently.

The PSPCL has confirmed the disconnection. Ashok Sabharwal, XEN, said the power supply to the kendras, set up at the Tehsil complexes of Hadiabad, Bhanoki, Mauli, Rihana Jattan and Ranipur was disconnected due to non-payment of bills, which were lying pending for the past six months.

These kendras are being run with the help of generator sets for the past many days. It was learnt that the staff deployed at 14 Sewa Kendras in Phagwara has not received their salaries for the past five months.
