The department of mechanical engineering of Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology organised a two-day ‘International Conference on Materials Science and Engineering’ which concluded today.

The conference was organised in collaboration with Women Engineering College, Ajmer and ‘Indian Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME)’ with an aim to share research contribution and practical development in the field of material science and engineering.

Dr Sumit Sharma, organising secretary, informed that around 125 papers had been accepted for presentation.

Dr Raman Bedi, incharge, HoD, mechanical engineering department, highlighted the sustainability of materials in novel technologies to shape the futuristic products.

Prof LK Awasthi, director, NIT, stressed on the importance of methods to recycle the used plastic. He elaborated the programmes offered at NIT, Jalandhar and research works of the faculty.

Dr Jaigopal Gupta, Government Women Engineering College, Ajmer, thanked NIT Jalandhar.

Dr SP Singh, Chairman of the ISME insisted about attention on material’s research for effective manufacturing in the country as it was a neglected area till now. He also informed that IIT Delhi had started the department of material sciences in 2019.
