Under the smart city project, students inclined towards support in schools at villages will be monitored by specialists and will be taught the techniques to become sportspersons.

Under the athlete monitoring system, the monitoring and test of the whole body of the athlete will be done.

According to information, there will be a bus with special equipment that will go to different villages and check students by visiting different schools. It will be assessed how students could develop in sports.

“If someone wants to be an athlete, what kind of format would be better for them? It will be checked, based on his muscle group activation,” said Jitendra Jorwal, CEO, Smart City.

He added that a specialised bus with all equipment would be available under the smart city project.

“Proper stance will be checked, the angle of the student will be monitored after which students will be asked to do a special muscle exercise so that there will be no chance of any injury,” he said. “Fitness-related coaches will be there,” he added.

The mobile medical van will be equipped with specialised doctors to test and guide children, giving them insights to different sports best suited to their skills.

A football stadium (FIFA standard), all-weather swimming pool, courts for tennis, badminton, basketball, kabaddi and shooting range will be opened under the Smart City project at Burlton Park. The cricket stadium at the park will also be upgraded.

During the Smart City meeting that was held yesterday, it was said that works worth around Rs 53 crore, including the work of development/improvement of six parks — 3.05 acre Industrial Area Park, 1.90 acre Tanki Wala Park, 1.28 acre Tobri Mohalla Park, 9.42 acre Beant Singh Park Part I, 8.16 acre Urban Estate Green Belt and 2 acre Dr BR Ambedkar Park — along with development/improvement of green areas under the flyover at DAV College, Pathankot road and Hoshiarpur road, besides the work of rejuvenation of the Bist Doab canal, the work of junction improvement of 11 chowks and installation of solar panels at 17 government buildings in the city at a cost of Rs 38.15 crore will be initiated during the ongoing month.

Likewise, it was also said Rs 20.22 crore will be spent on City Level Disaster Management Activities Plan, Rs 46.02 crore on installation of smart LED streetlights and centralised control and monitoring system on CAPEX Mode with operation and maintenance in Jalandhar City and Rs 39.29 crore for development of smart roads in ABD area, the work on which will start very soon.
