Training for career counsellors must: DC

A capacity building seminar was organised for career masters (Lecturers and masters of government schools) to promote ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission’ here. Amit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, laid stress on the need of skill development and better career counselling. He said students need proper guidance after completion of schooling, for which proper training of career counsellors was must.

He said under the flagship programme of the state government, skill development, career counselling and placement activities had been integrated at the district-level by setting up District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises.

“The district bureau will devise the ways by which eligible youth can be given proper platform for handsome earning,” he added.

As many as 100 teachers, lectures of government schools, colleges, ITI’s and polytechnics will be benefited by the capacity building seminar, he added.

Balbir Singh, District Employment Generation and Training Officer, said the Department of Education and the Department of Training and Placements had given presentation through the use of PPTs and lectures, besides, responding queries from beneficiaries ranging from problem of education, and placements.

Career counselling can solve more than 50 per cent problems relating to placements of the youth of the state, he added.
