Two held with intoxicants

Phagwara: The Phagwara police have arrested two persons, allegedly involved in drug trade. The suspects have been identified as Kuldip Singh of Nangal Colony and Ashutosh, a resident of Thapar Colony. The police recovered 35-gm heroin, 15 intoxicating injections and 1,235 intoxicating capsules from their possession. The Phagwara Superintendent of the Police Mandeep Singh said 35-gm heroin and 15 intoxicating injections were recovered from Kuldip Singh, near Kherra railway crossing, while Ashutosh was nabbed near Kot Rani Chowk in Phagwara. Two different cases under the NDPS Act have been registered. OC

SDM orders to clean drains

Phagwara: Phagwara Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jai Inder Singh instructed the officials concerned to clean the drains before the coming rainy season so that rain water could not overflow and harm the growing crop at the villages. Former minister Joginder Singh Maan was present. The SDM clarified that no borewell was found open in the Phagwara subdivision. OC
