Jalandhar, June 13

The residents of Kathar, Dhehpur, Koopur, Masanian, Deyantpur, Chakhiara and Gharial villages falling in Adampur constituency today held a protest and blocked Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur highway after the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials failed to restore power supply at villages for more than 48 hours.

The irate mob raised slogans against the state government and blocked the highway for over half an hour this evening.

Protesters said they had been reeling under hot climate without power for two days.

The dharna was lifted after PSPCL SDO reached the spot and assured the residents of a quick relief.

Mandeep Singh, a resident of Kathar, said the power supply got restored after the dharna was lifted, only to get snapped again littlelater.
