Truck used for bovine smuggling set on fire

Kathua, March 20

Unidentified persons set ablaze a truck at Rajbagh in Kathua district yesterday. The truck was seized by the police in a bovine-smuggling case on Saturday.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started investigating the matter.

The truck overturned near Rajbagh on the national highway. In the incident, five bovine animals were killed while the driver and cleaner managed to escape the spot. The truck was lying abandoned at the spot for the past two days.

“It is negligence on the part of the Kathua police that the truck being used for bovine smuggling was left abandoned on the highway,” locals said. — OC
