Udhampur students visit JU botanical garden

Jammu, March 20

As part of their educational tour, the undergraduate students of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur, visited the botanical garden of the Department of Botany, University of Jammu (JU), here today.

The visit was a part of the initiative taken by the department to promote education and awareness about plant conservation and environment among the students and faculty members.

Accompanied by Prof Bhikam Pal Singh, Prof Kewal Kumar and Tamanna, a group of 79 girl students visited the garden and were apprised about the systematically arranged floral species, including gymnosperms, dicots and monocots.

Prof Yash Pal Sharma, head, Department of Botany, JU, during an interaction with the visiting students and teachers, said the botanical garden spreading over 5.2 acres was an abode to many plant species from several corners of the state and the country.
