Govt to relocate Palladium cinema bunker

Srinagar, January 12

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today reviewed the modalities for removal of security bunker at the Palladium cinema, located at Lal Chowk.

During the meeting, Khan said following the demand from local shopkeepers and for smooth movement of people, the bunker needed to be relocated to some other place.

He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, to identify alternative locations for the bunker. After consulting the officials concerned, its new location should be finalised, Khan said.

Speaking on the occasion, the CRPF DIG said once the alternative location was provided, the bunker would be removed in public interest.

An official statement said the meeting was also attended by the DC, Srinagar Development Authority vice-chairman, Srinagar MC joint commissioner and other officials. — TNS
