Governor NN Vohra accepted the resignation letters of two BJP ministers Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga on Monday.

He accepted the resignations on the recommendations of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The resignation letters were sent for acceptance on Monday morning and within a couple of hours, the Governor accepted these. With the acceptance of these resignations, a constitutional protocol has been fulfilled and now there are three vacancies in the ministry.

Earlier, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu was “dropped” from the ministry by the Chief Minister for his claim that Kashmir was not a political but a social problem.

On the other hand, the two BJP ministers were asked by the party high command to put in their papers on Friday morning for their “indiscretion” in the use of language at a rally in Kathua on March 1. They had been sent to Kathua to defuse the situation as agitated community members under the Hindu Ekta Manch were demanding a CBI probe into the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Rasana village of the Hiranagar area of Kathua district.Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga had submitted their resignations to state BJP president Sat Sharma on Friday.
