Guv, Farooq extend Diwali greetings

Governor Satya Pal Malik has extended warm greetings to the people on Diwali, the festival of lights, and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the state.

The Governor observed that the festival symbolises the triumph of truth and righteousness over falsehood and of good over evil and highlights the ethos and high values of the country’s history.

Malik hoped that the festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, tranquillity and secularism, which are the hallmarks of our glorious composite cultural traditions and prayed for the well-being of the people of the state.

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah have greeted people of J&Kon Diwali. Farooq wished prosperity to the state and happiness to people. He highlighted the spirit of celebrating festivals in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood and called for strengthening this tradition.

In a separate message, Omar while extending his greetings to people said there was a need to strengthen harmony and brotherhood in the state’s pluralistic ethos. He hoped that the festival would be celebrated with fervour and gaiety.
