Militants fired at an Army patrol in the Jamnagri area of Shopian district around 5 pm on Wednesday. Several people sustained injuries during clashes which erupted as security forces launched a search operation to nab the militants.

“Some militants fired at an Army patrol from an orchard. No one was injured in the firing,” a police source said, adding that the area was immediately cordoned off and a search was launched to nab the militants.

While the search was going on, it is believed that the militants might have escaped. During the search operation, clashes broke out in the Jamnagri area and at least two other places in Shopian district.

“At least three people were injured during the clashes,” a local source said, adding that the injured were treated locally.

Meanwhile, another Army patrol was fired upon by militants in the Shikargah area of Tral in Pulwama district on Wednesday morning.
