Ludhiana, April 16

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Sukhchain Singh Gill, has issued various prohibitory orders to maintain the law and order situation in the city.

Exercising the powers vested in him under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the CP has imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers and DJ systems from 10 pm to 6 am in the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate.

“The permission to use loudspeakers during this time has to be taken from the authority concerned,” he said.

In another order, the CP instructed all hotels, dharamshalas and sarais (inns) to maintain a complete record of persons staying there. “It should be in the form of driving licence, Aadhaar card and other identification proofs,” he added.

“Any person without these documents should not be given room in hotels or inns. If anyone violates these orders, then strict action will be taken against him/her,” the CP said.

The orders would be in force for the next two months, he added.
