Kidney transplants held

A private hospital today flagged off the transplant programme by conducting two successful kidney transplants on the day of the launch.In one transplant, a man gave kidney to his wife, and in second transplant, a woman gave kidney to her son who have came from Dubai.

Dr Navpreet Aulakh, director of the hospital said, for kidney failure patients, transplant is the best option as it gives new life free from dietary and travel restrictions. Dr Aulakh said since obesity and diabetes continue to become more prevalent, kidney disease also is likely to become more common. — TNS
