Man robbed of cash, mobile

Three youths allegedly looted Rs 5,000, a mobile phone and important documents, including a credit card and an ATM card, from a middle-aged man in the Kot Mangal Singh area here on Wednesday evening. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons and further investigation is on.

In his complaint to the police, Rajinder Kumar of Daba Road stated that he left home for Chandigarh on Wednesday. When he reached the Kot Mangal Singh area, three youths riding a motorcycle hit him with a stick from behind. He fell over and the youths snatched his purse containing Rs 5,000, an ATM card, a debit card and his mobile phone.

Rajinder lodged a complaint with the Division Number 6 police station. The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Varinder Kumar, said the police had registered a case against unidentified persons and investigation was on. “We have obtained footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area where the incident took place,” he said.
