Workshop on nursery production

The department of fruit science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a two-day training programme on nursery production of fruit plants, wherein the Horticulture Development Officers and 48 technical staff members of the State Horticulture Department participated.

Harminder Singh, Head of Department of Fruit Science, welcomed the participants and deliberated on the importance of large scale production of quality planting material.

JSs Brar and Mandeep Singh Gill, fruit science experts, discussed in detail about various propagation techniques and importance of rootstocks used to raise the quality of nursery plants of fruit crops, respectively. More emphasis was laid on practical aspects. The trainees were given a shands-on-training in different propagation techniques in citrus, guava, mango, ber, amla, peach, pear, plum and litchi.
