Politics, jokes, trolls and jibes are adding colour and oomph to Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore’s fitness challenge— ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’.

Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s challenge to Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy—who stole the state under the BJP’s nose to form a government by forging an alliance with the Congress—attracted some attention as a smart political move, it was Kumaraswamy’s sarcastic repartee created the bigger buzz.

Politely thanking the prime minister, Kumaraswamy said he was more concerned about development and fitness of his state, cleverly turning the tables back to Modi.

“Dear @narendramodi ji I am honoured & thank U very much for d concern about my health I believe physical fitness is imptnt for all & supportd cause," Kumaraswamy said in a tweet on his official Twitter handle @CMofKarnataka.

"Yoga-treadmill r part of my daily workout regime. Yet, I am more concerned about devlpment fitness of my state & seek ur support for it,” Kumaraswamy tweeted, attracting reactions and retweets on the social media.

A BJP leader quipped that Kumaraswamy was the “wrong choice for the challenge”, adding: “Congress members are also avoiding going to gyms or exercising fearing that someone might record them and put it up on social media”.

The Opposition had a field day when Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli accepted Rathore’s challenge and in turn tagged the prime minister, Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni for the campaign. As soon as the prime minister accepted Kohli’s “fitness challenge”, Congress president Rahul Gandhi trolled him to respond to his “fuel challenge” by asking him to bring down spiralling fuel prices in the country.

RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav added to the trolls with a barrage of questions, and his own challenge. “While we have nothing against accepting fitness challenge from @imVkohli . I urge you to accept the challenge to provide jobs to young, relief to farmers, promise of no violence against dalits & minorities. Would you accept my challenge @narendramodi Sir?”  Yadav tweeted.
