The Railways terminated all Punjab-bound trains at Ambala on Tuesday due to a Punjab Bandh call by the Ravidasia community against Supreme Court's order to demolish a Guru Ravidas temple in Delhi.
Railway sources said that Mumbai-bound 11058 DN Dadar Express train was stopped at Jalandhar Cantt at 10.15AM and Delhi-bound 22430 DN Pathankot-Delhi Express was stopped at Kartarpur on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, Amritsar-bound 64551 train was stopped at Chiherru railway Station at 9.50AM and 12587 DN Gorakhpur-Jammu Tawi Express was stopped at Phagwara railway station at 9.48AM.
Several other trains services were also distrupted—including the 15655 Kaumakhiya Dev-Jammu Tawi Express, which was stopped at the Phillaur Railway Station, 15707 Amritsar-bound Katihar Express train, which was stopped at Ludhiana at 10.17 AM and the 14506 UP Nangal Dam--Amritsar Express train, which was stopped at Ludhiana at 10.25 AM.
Railway sources said that 12219 Malwa Express train was stopped at Chabawal, 12029 Shatabadi Express train at Khanna, 12497 Shane-Punjab Express train at Sirhind railway station and that the 11059 UP Dadar Express train has been stranded at Malerkotla since Tuesday morning.
Reports of complete bandh were received from several places, including Goraya, Phillaur, Banga, Noormahal, Nakodar.
