Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal said today that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had lost credibility among the masses, going by the people’s response to the party’s “pol khol” rallies being held across the state.

Addressing a gathering at Baghapurana town in the district, he said, “Capt Amarinder has failed to fulfil the pre-poll promises made to the farmers, the youth and other sections of society.”

The SAD president said the government had stopped all social welfare benefits, be it old-age pension, Shagun scheme or the Atta-Dal scheme. “The Congress government has stooped so low that it has dismantled sewa kendras which were providing essential services to the people in a time-bound manner,” he added.

He also accused local Congress legislator Darshan Singh Khote of victimising people. Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia asked the people to take a pledge not to let the government install meters on power grids. He said the SAD would launch protests in case the government did not relent.

Former minister Tota Singh said the Congress promised the moon to the people, but failed to deliver.
