Will do away with outdated courses: Channi

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, March 20

After twice changing his room citing vastu shastra issues, Charanjit Singh Channi, Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister, was the last to assume his office at Punjab Civil Secretariat here today.

Other ministers took charge of their office on Friday.

After assuming the charge, Channi said the evaluation of the syllabi in the technical education institutions would be carried in accordance with demands of today’s technologically driven era and would be of the level of IITs and other prominent institutions.

The endeavour would be to substitute the outdated courses with the ones which were job-oriented. He said intelligent students would be sent abroad for higher studies at government expense which would “save them from being exploited by unscrupulous agents”.

He said youth of the state would be encouraged to pursue technical education besides improving the functioning of the institutions imparting technical education.
