4 booked for duping drug peddler’s kin

Sangrur, April 20

The Bhawanigarh police have booked four persons for taking money from the family of one Sandeep Singh, who was arrested with 15 kg of poppy husk on April 8. 

The accused, Inderjit Singh, Vikas, Chanveer Singh and Nirmal Singh alias Sarpanch, a nephew of Baldev Singh, chairman, Sangrur market committee, allegedly took Rs 1 lakh from the family of Sandeep to hush up the drug case. “A probe was conducted following which we registered a case against all four on April 19. Chanveer and Nirmal have been arrested,” said Sewa Singh Malhi, SP, Sangrur. — TNS
