Ferozepur, April 20

Officials of the CBI today raided Military Engineering Service (MES) office in the cantonment area here and nabbed red-handed a senior official and a lower desk clerk for allegedly accepting a bribe.

Sources said the CBI team arrived in the afternoon and remained in the Commander Works Engineer’s office till late in the evening. Though the CBI officials remained tightlipped about the raid and no other official shared the details of the investigation, the sources said an official of the rank of Deputy Commander along with a clerk were nabbed and Rs 15,000 was recovered from their possession which they took as a bribe for sanctioning some long-pending bills.

The sources said a CPWD contractor had lodged a compliant with the CBI that led to the arrest of the two officials.
