Even as the state government has “backtracked” on its unemployment allowance promise, Chief Principal Secretary to the CM Suresh Kumar today said the government would offer incentive to those who register for a skill development course.

“No allowance will be given to those who register themselves as unemployed youth and then go back and sit at home. These youth have to pursue the courses for skill enhancement, which may be of three months or three years. It will be during this duration that they will get incentive. We have sent a proposal. The amount which will include state as well as central share is yet to be decided,” said Kumar.

On Opposition’s criticism of job fests, the Chief Principal Secretary said: “About 5 lakh youths got registered for getting jobs. A ‘ghar ghar naukri’ web portal was started for this work. MoUs have been signed with the industry for providing 2.38 lakh jobs.”

Regarding only Rs272 crore coming as GST as of now, Suresh Kumar said: “The devolution of funds is taking time because of transition in the tax system. Things are expected to be on track by September 30. I have not got my salary yet. Employees need not worry. We should be able to pay salary to all by September 17.”
