Four IPS, 48 PPS officers transferred

Includes two from scam-tainted telecom wing of state police

The state government today transferred four IPS and 48 PPS officers. Among those shifted are two police officers of the information technology and telecommunications wing, which had witnessed an alleged fake recruitment scam. Six youths had worked with the wing for six months on the basis of fake job letters, including Devinder Singh, who attempted suicide yesterday.

Those transferred out of the wing are AIG Malwinder Singh and Iqbal Singh. IPS officer Pardeep Kumar, repatriated recently from Uttar Pradesh, where he was on deputation, would be the new AIG of the wing.

A government spokesperson said Iqbal Singh and Harbaj Singh had been posted at Chandigarh as AIG, Special Cell, and AIG, Traffic, respectively, and Jaspreet Singh Sidhu as Commandant, 2nd CDO Battalion, Bathinda.

Among PPS officers, Malwinder Singh has been posted as SP (Investigation), SBS Nagar; Jaswant Kaur as ADCP (Traffic), Amritsar; Harjeet Singh as ADCP (Investigation), Amritsar; Gurnam Singh as SP (HQ), Tarn Taran; and Jaspal Singh as SP (HQ), Muktsar.
