Graft-tainted Ropar ADC transferred

Ropar, April 20

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Satish Chander Vashisht has been transferred as Principal of Community and Development Training Centre, Batala. He is facing allegations of embezzlement in purchases for Zila Parishad.

Finance Commissioner Roshan Sunkaria issued the transfer order yesterday.

Vashisht had allegedly purchased goods for Zila Parishad offices and dispensaries at 13 times the market price. More than Rs 1 crore was spent on the goods purchased from Kendriya Bhandar branch in Chandigarh without inviting any bids.

The ADC had claimed bids were not invited as Kenriya Bhandar was a government agency. In fact, Kendriya Bhandar is a cooperative agency and it does not have the approval from Punjab or the Centre. — TNS
