UAD: Release villagers held for protest

Sangrur, November 8

United Akali Dal (UAD) leaders along with members of the Akhand Kirtni Jatha (AKJ) organised a demonstration in front of Sangrur Jail from 11.30 am on Wednesday to the wee hours on Thursday. They were demanding the release of all six persons who were arrested for throwing a shoe at the cavalcade of SAD chief Sukhbir Badal and trying to stop his vehicle to protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.

“Throwing a shoe cannot kill anyone and how the police can add attempt to murder charges in the FIR registered for throwing a shoe at the cavalcade of Sukhbir Badal. We will intensify our agitation after the deadline of November 15, given by various organisations,” said Purshotam Phagguwala, general secretary of the UAD.

“Patiala IG AS Rai has formed a special investigation team (SIT) for a thorough investigation in the case. We will take further action as per the findings of the SIT,” said Sandeep Garg, SSP, Sangrur. — TNS
