Won’t quit, for now: Phoolka

Chandigarh, September 14

Aam Aadmi Party MLA and former Leader of Opposition HS Phoolka said on Friday that he had deferred his decision to quit membership of the Assembly. Phoolka had recently announced that he would resign on September 16 if the government failed to arrest police officials and politicians named in the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission report.

Addressing a press conference here, Phoolka said he had put off his move as the matter was now sub judice following stay on proceedings by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

“I will wait for the outcome of the court case to decide the course of action,” he said. Meanwhile, Phoolka alleged that the state government was in league with the Akalis and the accused police officials as it (government) had failed to oppose the stay on proceedings against the accused. — TNS
